How to Reinstall XP OS Without a Disk






Spyware, popups, viruses, trojans and unwanted programs can cause your computer to operate so poorly that reinstalling your operating system becomes necessary. If you are currently running Windows XP, but do not have an installation CD, there is no need to worry. A copy of the CD is saved on your hard drive and allows you to reinstall Windows

Instructions

1.          Save any personal data onto a CD, DVD, external hard drive or any external media. This includes documents, photos, videos, music, programs, etc.

2.      Click the "Start" button, navigate to "My Computer" and click it.

3.      Double-click "Local Disk (C:\)," navigate to the folder "i386" and double-click it.

4.      Locate the file "C:Windows/i386/winnt32.exe" and double-click it.
5.     Select "Install Windows XP." The program will restart your computer.

6.      Press "F8" to confirm that you have read the software license and agreement and continue.

7.      Press "D" to delete the previous partition where Windows 98 was installed and then press "L" to confirm.

8.      Select the non-partitioned space that remains. press "C" to create the new partition and then hit "Enter" to create the partition with maximum size.

9.      Select either FAT or NTFS format options and hit "Enter." (FAT is for hard drives that are less than 32 GB. NTFS is for hard drives that are greater than 32 GB.)

Enter your Windows XP product key when prompted and restart your computer if necessary. Your computer now has a fresh version of Windows XP installed.
